i do not know much about jack the ripper but have decided to research him. i have to write a document based question when i find 9 primary documents and then write about them answering a question such as "who was jack the ripper." i dont know if anyone here more familiar with the site knows of exactly what "primary" documents would be and if there are any that are over that matter. thanks!! |

Layla, "Secondary documents" are books about a subject. For instance, "The Complete History of Jack the Ripper" by Philip Sugden is a "secondary document". A "primary document" is something written by someone involved in the case. For example, a letter written by Chief Inspector Swanson to Home Secretary Matthews would be a "primary" document. Anything in the "official documents" section of the Casebook website is a "primary" document. You can also pick up Stewart Evans' book called "Jack the Ripper, the Ultimate Companion" which features ALL of the primary police documents that are still available. B |
