This short piece is from the Edwardsville Intelligencer of 27 July 1889. I cannot trace any known murder or arrest to 20th July 1889 (the Mckenzie occurred three days prior) Any info gratefully received! |

Hi Chris - I'm thinking this is probably a reference to William Brodie, who was arrested on the 18th July but brought into court on the 20th. He confessed to the McKenzie murder but his confession was eventually found to be false. Stephen P. Ryder, Exec. Editor Casebook: Jack the Ripper
