Im interested in the psychological part of the inquiry into JtR. It seems as if our knowledge of these psychological matters has improved greatly in recent years. Not only through profiling but general research into our mental "make up".

Does the amount of mutilation tell us anything about Jack? Are serial kilers who indulge in mutilations after the victims'death show any different types of mental behaviour than other "non mutilating" serial killers?

Perhaps im being naieve here. But i find it difficult to believe that anyone who carried out the mutilations on Eddowes and Kelly could carry on a "normal" daily existence without showing various signs of mental instability.

In my opinion this would rule out such "suspects" as Barnett Hutchison etc.
