Hi all of you especially Bob (Hinton) Congestion charges do not apply in most of the East End. I personally think it's about time we had a Conference in the place where it was all happening. There are a number of Hotels in areas that Mr. Livingstone has not put his charges on. I'm quite happy to go to Swansea, Cardiff, Dublin.................................. but, I really would like a Conference in the East End. The advantages are obvious, appart from being right in the centre of the murders, we could visit the murder sites, the Masonic Hall, the Ragged Museum, Toynbee Hall, London Hospital, London Dungeon (well some people might find it interesting!?!) the drink is cheap, the food is ditto, and many of our 'overseas' bods have never have the chance to see it all. As long as we are out of the Congestion charging, I see no problem, there are lots of Hotels in the area, has anyone thought about the City Hotel in Osbourne Street? ( they have their own car park) If we can't go to London then I vote for Dublin or Cardiff/Swansea That's my thoughts Love Liza X

Just a point but Dublin is actually very easy to get to by car - ferries run from Liverpool right into the East Dock virtually in the city centre. I've got my photos online now, but rather than use up Stephen's bandwidth, I've loaded them up as a photoset ON THIS LINK. Hi all, What a wonderful weekend. Thank you Claudia, Adam and Andy. I agree with Liza that the next one should be in London. The only problem I can see is that the local Eastenders would not like the idea. They don't like the Ripper walks so I can't imagine them liking a Conference. Anyway here are some of the pics I took. Lindsey Siviter, Mark Galloway, Liza and Jackie Murphy Robert Smith, Caz, Lindsey and Alan Caz (Howard Brown, your welcome) Me and Caz (Howard are we jealous?) The lovely Lindsey singing Cabaret Robert J. Mclaughlin pissed Me and my new best mate Robert A couple of Brighton beauties Jenni and Jane Me and Beadle Liza about to bite Robert in the neck and draw blood Rob |

Suzi - what do you mean Don to take the tour? HELLO!!!! What do you think I do? Rob - that photo of Robert, Caz, Lindsey and Alan on the beach will really excite Alan as it is a recreation of THE DOORS 'Waiting For The Sun' album cover. Alan - Rob is Ray Manzarek, Caz is Robby Krieger, Lindsey is John Densmore and you are, obviously, The Lizard King. PHILIP Tour guides do it loudly in front of a crowd!

Hi Liza, Happy birthday for yesterday! Did you have a good one? Yep, London would be the tops, and Natalie's idea of taking advantage of university facilities between July and September is a cracker! That way, Whitechapel wouldn't be plagued by a hotel full of ripper enthusiasts, and some of the crime walks could be do-it-yourself affairs in smaller, non-intrusive groups. Hi Suzi, I'm sure you know exactly which pic I mean - it's the bee's knees (or as you would say, the cat's arse). Ta for the lyrics, but I've forgotten the tune. You simply must come to the Christmas Smoke and Stagger (can't lose that name completely) so you can teach it to me again. Love, Caz X |

Just to throw a spanner in the Cardiff/Dublin/London works, can I also mention Edinburgh. It has a Ripper connection (James Monro), it has an abundance of suitable venues, it has vast amounts of spooky old dark alleys to evoke the spirit of Whitechapel, and it is the most fantastic and beautiful city in the whole of the United Kingdom. Just a thought. "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me" - Hunter S. Thompson (1939-2005) Visit my website - http://www.ashbooks.co.uk/

Hi, Before we start getting too many exotic locations for the next meeting can I just point out that the majority of sites already chosen have favoured those living in the East of the country with the one exception of Liverpool. For example I have travelled the following distances (round trip): Ipswich 600 miles, Norwich 656 miles, Bournemouth 440 miles, Liverpool 526 miles and Brighton 500 miles. Now this also applies to anyone living in Wales. There are several enthusiasts living down here who would love to come but just can’t afford the journey, don’t forget travelling to Bournemouth added about £60 to the cost of the weekend. Can’t we look at a more central location – I realise Cardiff is hardly central, but I deserve a break from travelling half a day! Bob

To all my friends at Casebook I was very sorry to have missed the Conference but so glad that those attending had a great time. I'm afraid that health issues made travelling out of the question last weekend - I have a condition called Meniere's Disease which gives rise to very bad bouts of vertigo and motion sickness with which I was afflicted last weekend in abundance. My thanks to all the people who have mailed me with good wishes - it means a great deal to me. And, once again, I was very sorry to have missed the company of all of you and not to have given the presentation I had been working on. You are a great crowd of guys and your friendship means a great deal to me - heartfelt thanks to all Chris Scott |

Chris, My sympathies as well. I do know what you're talking about; although I have only had one vertigo attack so far (one and a half year ago), I probably suffer from the same chronical disorder and regularly suffers from dizziness and unsteadiness plus that my hearing has gotten bad. I take anti-nausea medication on occasion. My Swedish specialists couldn't agree on whether I have Menier's disease or Vestibularis Neuronitis, though, and it is a bit tricky to diagnose. I just beg to the Lord that I won't get another fierce attack, because it was terrible. No wonder you couldn't come, because those attacks pretty much disables you completely, and personally it was one of the worst experiences in my life. I really regret to hear that you suffer from this condition. All the best (Message edited by Glenna on October 12, 2005) G. Andersson, writer/historian

Chris - Just checked the thread and Suzi didn't mention it at all; it was actually ME who commented above on my disappointment I couldn't get your book at Brighton and whilst I am open to suggestions, when last I looked I wasn't Suzi. Now you still have to send her a free copy... I also know of Menieres as my mum used to suffer from it. I remember some afternoons when I'd get in from school she would just spend the entire afternoon lying on her bed unable to get up or do anything. Strangely, the condition seems to have left her now. All, Cardiff has much to commend it: 1. Great pubs 2. Nice hotels 3. The Millennium Centre or St David's Hall - for concert buffs 4. A great shopping centre, replete with Victorian arcades and a Victorian roofed market (nice, but not quite as good as the one in Swansea) 5. Two castles - Cardiff Castle (mediaeval) slap bang in the city centre and Castell Coch (a truly spectacular Victorian folly) on the outskirts. Both castles cater for the "theme banquet" market 6. Cosmeston Mediaeval Village or St Fagan's Folk Museum (if reconstructed ancient villages turn you on) 7. Loads of pubs (said that before, but it's worth repeating) 8. The Millennium Stadium - for rugby matches and "ripping" of a different kind 9. Tenuous connections with MJK ;o) 10. I don't live so far away and might be tempted to come along ... don't let the last one put you off. |

Congratulations to Stephen on his award which I might add was well deserved. One dictum I recall is... never judge a man by his words but rather by his actions and Stephen achieved a great deal by his actions at the conference. For which I might add he has my greatest admiration and respect. However, I understand that Tee and Ally got into a fight and were arrested for assault and disturbing the peace and both were bailed to appear before Brighton magistrates. However, Ally skipped the country the next day and I understand a warrant has now been issued for her arrest.Send me $2000 cash Ally and I will get this sordid affair sorted and the warrant withdrawn...I know a dodgy magistrate so you will be alright for what I have told you. PS. It was a pleasure to meet you both. |

Hi Nats, Well I know some photos of Ally were taken - she must be paying the snappers well not to post 'em. God knows why though - she's an extremely attractive and sexy young lady, and her self-confessed mean streak on the boards is but a tiny tiny part of her, which was left behind when she crossed the pond to be with us all in Brighton. She even sold me the raffle ticket that won me her truncheon. Love, Caz XXX (Message edited by caz on October 14, 2005) |

Don"t understand quite how that could be Suzi! As Caz says Ally is very fetching to look at---- so Ally how about a photo! ----Ah well--- some people hate having their photos taken [erm yes!]-think I will post a clearer one of me actually-when people are moving about too much the picture often does get a bit blurred. You and Caz take great pics and I loved the one of Jenny above but the photos of our lovely Jane no way compare to her and that goes for Lisa too-although one or two of her are very cute! |
