Ben MacIntyre's book (The Napoleon of Crime) has a good account on this prototype of Conan Doyle's Pr. Moriarti, a contemporary to JTR. But the account is inaccurate sometimes. Can anybody (who has access to The Times Online Archive) made me favor and look at The Archive for reports on Adam Wood's trial (March 20 and 21th, 1893)? Thanks in advance, Stepan Poberowski |

I actually came across a Met. copper called Moriarti from the LVP who was such a rogue that I thought Conan Doyle probably used him as the base for his character. He were a right one. |
