Rather than digging the graves up to find evidence{if any} on who or what, why not update the gravestones? The post 2003 headstones of Catharine Eddowes and Mary Nichols on the heritage trail are well done and tastefull, but its a pity that Liz Stride,Annie Chapman and Mary Kelly are not. All 5 women are important enough to have a proper stone in loving memory!!!it would be the least we could do considering the movies, novalists, the media and people like us at our computers bring up their deaths everyday, never really leaving them to rest in peace. |

Elizabeth Stride and Mary Kelly have attractive gravestones (and relatively new). There is no mention on any of the graves of those buried there being victims of Jack the Ripper, which is probably for the best in that it would only encourage vandalism. The gravesite of Ann Chapman has been reused so many times it is now unfortunately lost. A marker on the (very) approximate site would be nice. Some of us have done a bit of housekeeping on the Kelly and Stride graves. Andy S. |

Thanks Andy, would it be possible to get some photos of Liz and Marys latest markers? Its wonderful to know that some people have taken the time to look after them. Thanks for your reply, Reece G.{Geelong Australia} |

Reece, You can find photos of these two graves and markers on the Victims section under their names. There is a thread for graves under Stride and under Kelly. I took some pictures recently which I may post, although the graves look about the same as in the pictures that are already there. Andy S. |
