I am interested in Jack the Ripper's Australian Connection. Daniel Farson's "Jack The Ripper" mentioned an elusive pamphlet " The East End Murderer: I Knew Him", allegedly published in Dandenong, Australia in 1890. As did Howells' & Skinners' book. Frederick Deeming,a wife murderer, has sometime been listed as a possible Jack The Ripper. He was arrested and hanged in Australia. (It is possible to purchase the CD ROM of the old discussions at a very reasonable price see Casebook Home Page). On that CD ROM I discovered a poster calling themselves "Red Demon". Alleged they had ordered a book which contained a reproduction of an Australian pamphlet "How They Caught Jack The Ripper" dated 1929. Apparently, "Red Demon" had not received the mentioned book when they made the posting. The date "Red Demon" posted that message on the boards was 08 January, 2000. Chris Phillips told me on the modern Message Boards an ex registered poster had returned. This person was greeted by a regular registered member with the salutation: "Or should I say Greetings "Red Demon"?". I have sent private emails to both these people and received no reply. Does anyone out there know how I can contact this "Red Demon", as I wish to learn further details concerning the Australian pamphlet? |

Hello, Although I abandoned that names YEARS ago, I am Red Demon. I don't remember the post in question, but I'm sure that whatever I was talking about was of no real value, and I can most certainly assure you that I do not and never have had the elusive pamphlet in question. I do need to buy the Casebook CD-ROM, though, so I can check up on this stuff when it comes up. Sorry to disapoint, John. Yours truly, Tom Wescott |

Roger, Red Demon. Over and Out. Thanks Tom. I thoroughly recommend the CD ROM of the old Casebook Message Boards, I think there are about 44,000 postings.Everyone is sure to find something to their liking there. They go back to 2000 A.D.! One of the amusing things in reading them,( at least I found this so), was I thought a lot of my theories on say, the Graffiti in Goulston Street, were original. But they were not as original as I imagined. And I learnt much more from the clever researches of those who had trodden the same paths before. COME ON ALL YOU NEW MEMBERS.The price is very reasonable. And well worth the money. Besides it helps poor old Stephen P. Ryder and his helpers keep this WONDERFUL, AMAZING site going. |

I always thought Red Demon was a right smart poster. Bullwinkle
