American crime, could be California. Back in the, probably, 30s definitely Lindbergh kidnapping era a girl who was one of a set of twins was kidnapped and held for ransom. At the meeting at which the ransom/hostage exchange was to take place the man bringing the money saw the little girl in the front seat of the kidnapper's vehicle and did not realize that she was dead and had been made up with lipstick and rouge. I cannot remember the name of the girl or the murderer and it is driving me crazy. Read about this murder when I was a girl. |
