"Took her to Loughborough fair Saturday..." Loughborough??, I been there!, Mount Sorrel?. I had a few buddies in that area 30+ years ago. Gentlemen of the highways - Greasers Sounds like Milly Poppy shared her lunch with Daddy? (LoL) Jon We talk of things as wrong or right, or clear as night and day. Jon, Mountsorrel. Played football there. Heres the mythical story (least I think its mythical) about how some of the villages in that area got their names. Once upon a time a Loughborough giant named Bel had a wager that he could make Leicester within three leaps of his horse, Sorrel. The spot he mounted his horse is now known as Mountsorrel. His first leap took him to Wanlip (one-leap). A village outside Leicester. He second leap was a doozy. Sorrel collasped under the strain and threw Bel to the ground. Bel landed on his head, snapping his neck and killing him instantly. Because he was too huge to move the locals dug a huge pit and rolled him in. That area is now known as Belgrave (Bels grave). Thats the story of how Mountsorrel, Wanlip and Belgrave were named. Now off to bed with you. Monty
