Alfred Pearson, a moulder, was charged at Brierley Hill Police Court with threatening a couple out walking. Pearson suddenly appeared out of the darkness brandishing a large weapon and cried out, 'Jack the Ripper'. The lady, unsurprisingly, had hysterics from fright. Pearson was bound over for six months, the weapon he was holding was a trowel.
