Arbie La Bruckman

Little is known of Arbie La Bruckman, beyond the fact that he was said to be a villainous looking man of bad repute, who had been a slaughterman on a cattle boat for 14 years, sailing between the ports of Liverpool, London and New York. Believed to have originated from Morocco, he was described as about 29 years of age, 5 ft 7"tall, weighed about 180 pounds, with black hair a dark brown moustache and was said to possess a remarkably strong physique. La Bruckman was supposedly questioned by the police at the time of the Whitechapel murders, and also by the police regarding the murder of an elderly prostitute at the East River Hotel, New York, on the 24 April 1891 named Carrie Brown, nicknamed Old Shakespeare on account of when the worse for drink, she would often quote the bard. La Bruckman told the police that he was at his lodging house 81 James Street, at the time Carrie Brown was murdered and that people there could vouch for his whereabouts, they presumably did, and he was released without charge. There is no evidence La Bruckman was actually in Whitechapel when the Ripper murders occurred.
