Martin Kosminski

Kosminski first came under suspicion after researchers noticed a link between Martin Kosminski and Joseph Levy. It was Levy who supported Kosminski's naturalisation application in 1877 and also became distressed when he saw a man with Catherine Eddowes, shortly before she was murdered. This has led some to speculate that he may have recognised the man he saw with Eddowes. Martin Kosminski was born in Kalisch, Poland, in 1845 and was a furrier. He was still in business at various addresses until 1922. Despite the scarcity of the name Kosminski, there is no evidence as yet of any connection between Martin Kosminski and Ripper suspect Aaron Kosminski.
