Albert Bachert, an engraver, deposed that on November 13 he was at Trafalgar-square. When he got there the mounted police were charging the mob. Subsequently he heard a policeman say "Here's Burns," and he saw a crowd coming towards the square. He saw Mr. Graham walking with Burns towards the square. At that time the police advanced with their hands on their truncheons, and he saw Mr. Graham struck by a truncheon. There were other blows at Mr. Graham, but they missed. Mr. Graham had not his hat on. It was impossible for Mr. Graham to have struck the police, because the police rushed upon them and did not give them a chance.
In cross-examination the witness stated that he was a Conservative.
