A Tramp's Narrow Escape

Madrid, Dec. 27.
Great excitement was caused to-day by a report that "Jack the Ripper" had appeared in broad daylight. Over five hundred infuriated women threatened to lynch the supposed criminal, whom the police had much difficulty in protecting from violence. On investigation it was found that the victim of the women's fury had been guiltless of any wrong doing. The prisoner, who is in appearance a tramp, was once a servant in the royal household.
