London, Nov. 22.
The city was startled and shocked this morning by a report that another unfortunate had fallen a victim to the terrible knife of the Whitechapel fiend. The report stated that the mysterious woman slayer had accompanied his victim to a lodging house, cut her throat and mutilated her person in a manner similar to that of his previous victims and succeeded in making his escape. The police at once formed lines surrounding the precinct in which the crime had been committed. As the report spread crowds of maddened men and women flocked to the scene.

Later - An investigation of the reported murder in Whitechapel reveals the fact that the woman was only wounded in the throat. She stated to the police that a man visited her lodging house and suddenly attacked her with a knife. She struggled and screamed, and the man becoming alarmed, fled.

The would be murderer was chased fully 300 yards but succeeded in eluding his pursuers. The woman states that she will be fully able to identify her assailant. His arrest is hourly expected.
