The Poplar Mystery

On Sunday afternoon the funeral of Rose Millett, the young woman who was found dead in Clarke’s-yard, Poplar, took place at Bow Cemetery. The remains were conveyed from the house of the deceased’s mother, 69, Pelham-street, Whitechapel, in a glass car, the mourners being the mother, Margaret Millett, widow, and a young woman, cousin of the deceased. The Rev. W. H. Rice officiated at the ceremony, where a crowd had collected, as was also the case when the remains left Whitechapel. Notwithstanding that twenty-four days had elapsed since the finding of the body, the marks on the neck were still very distinct.
