Phillip,
The colour drained out of them when the Ripper approached, and its not a letter in my hand, just a white flag of surrender.
Kane,
Thanks for the offer, but a wee bit low.A little bit of fun,but wouldn't I be surprised if one of the females did chance on the site.1946 was a long time ago.

Doctor in the Nineties
By D. G. Halsted
Published by Christopher Johnson, 1959
Cloth bound, 206 pages
Illustrated with a frontispiece & 18 photographic plates
A curious memoir of a doctor whose long medical career began in the East End of London towards the end of the nineteenth century. Includes a brief chapter on his recollection of the case of Jack the Ripper and the suspicion that fell upon members of the medical profession due to the nature of the crimes. His career culminates in a practice in Sutton, Surrey. A rare title.

Jack the Ripper London Police/Scotland Yard/FBI Files

Jack the Ripper: City of London Police - London Metropolitan Police - Scotland Yard - FBI Documents

96 pages of copies of City of London Police, London Metropolitan Police, Scotland Yard, and FBI documents connected with the Jack the Ripper - Whitechapel Murders archived on CD-ROM.

Jack the Ripper is the name that has been given to an unidentified killer responsible for murders occurring in the impoverished Whitechapel section of London in 1888. The name Jack the Ripper comes from the signature of a letter, dated 25 September, 1888, and received by the Central News Agency on 27 September, 1888.

There were 11 murders of prostitutes in the Whitechapel area from 1888 to 1891, known as the Whitechapel Murders. Five of these are commonly identified as the Jack the Ripper murders. Those of Mary Ann Nichols at Buck's Row, Whitechapel, on Friday 31 August 1888, Annie Chapman at Rear Yard at 29 Hanbury Street, Spitalfields on Saturday 8 September 1888, Elizabeth Stride at the yard at side of 40 Berner Street, St Georges-in-the-East on Sunday 30 September 1888, Catherine Eddowes at Mitre Square, Aldgate, City of London on Sunday 30 September 1888 and Mary Jane Kelly at 13 Miller's Court, 26 Dorset Street Spitalfields on Friday 9 November 1888.

All Jack the Ripper murders took place in a one square mile area of the East End and the City of London surrounding Whitechapel. The hunt for Jack the Ripper caused sensation and panic in London. The notoriety of the murders became international, appearing in newspapers from Europe to the Americas. Even at an early stage, the newspapers were carrying theories as to the identity of the killer, including doctors, slaughterers, sailors, and lunatics of every description.

DISC INCLUDES

BRITISH LAW ENFORCEMENT DOCUMENTS

The British law enforcement documents date from August 1888 to November 1888, and February 1894. Documents includes: Reports on the murders and detailed descriptions of the murder investigations of Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, and Catherine Eddowes, the "Dear Boss" letter, the "Saucy Jack" postcard, Witness Statement from George Hutchinson, who is believed to be the person who got the best look at Jack the Ripper, examples of mail received claiming to be from Jack the Ripper.

The Macnaghten memo. This report by Chief Constable Sir Melville Macnaghten has had the greatest influence over common knowledge of the Jack the Ripper murders. This report was not publically available until 1959 and the complete report was not made available for viewing and reproduction until 2002. The report sets the number of Jack the Ripper murders at five. It names Macnaghten's three prime suspects.

FBI FILES

In 1988, one-hundred years after the Jack the Riper/Whitechapel Murders, the FBI applied its modern knowledge to the case. A seven page criminal investigative analysis was produced by the top criminal profiler at the FBI National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime. This analysis report addresses: Victimology or profile of victims; medical examiner's findings; crime and crime scene analysis; communications allegedly received from Jack the Ripper; offender traits and characteristics; pre- and post-offense behavioral patterns; investigative and/or proactive techniques; and interview/interrogation suggestions. This report not only sheds light on the Jack the Ripper - Whitechapel Murders, it also acts a a primer for analysis of multiple murderers.

FORGING HISTORY-DETECT FAKE LETTERS/DOCS-KENNETH RENDEL
You are bidding on a copy of this book written by Kenneth W. Rendell, a rare and historical document dealer with galleries in NYC and Beverly Hills CA. Rendell has been a consultant in authenticity to the Library of Congress, National Archives and virtually every library and museum in the U.S. This book is a first edition and published in 1994 by Norman University of Oklahoma. It has 171 pages, measures 8 1/2 by 11, and is hardcover with a dust jacket and in perfect condition. In fact, the book has never been opened and has been kept in a glass fronted bookcase. This book lists for a minimum of $20 elsewhere. In this book, Rendell shows paired examples of writing of historical figures and then demonstrates which of each pair is genuine and which forged. The book culminates in an analysis of three major forgeries of recent times – Hitler diaries, Mormon letters and the Jack the Ripper diary.

Good used condition!!! The true story of Jack the Ripper. Inside book cover has the initials of "E.M." and a "discard" label. Also looks like the first cover page was cut out. This does not effect the story. Otherwise, book is in good condition.

This is the print allegedly in Kelly's room, aka The Fisherman's Widoww:

Fisherman Cottage MOURNING WIFE by BRAMLEY, Old Print

This beautiful print is Titled: "A HOPELESS DAWN" Oil on canvas 1888. Presented by the Trustees of the Chantrey Bequest 1888. The original painting is in the TATE GALLERY, LONDON, ENGLAND (on display at Tate Britain) by Frank BRAMLEY (born 1857 - died 1915) English painter.

Comment from the Tate Gallery: A Hopeless Dawn was painted at Newlyn, Cornwall, and exhibited at the Royal Academy in London in 1888, with a passage from John Ruskin’s The Harbours of England. This dwelt on the effort and sorrow of the lives of fishermen and their families, yet offered consolation in the thought of Christ’s hand being ‘at the helm of every lonely boat, through starless night and hopeless dawn’. An open bible lies on the window seat beside the fisherman’s mother, who is comforting his young wife; both have given up hope of his return after waiting for a day and a night. (From the display caption February 2004)

Antiquarian description: In this picture we see the fisherman's cottage with his wife & mother-in-law as they have fallen sleep awaiting his return. We see the untouched meal on the table & the burnt out candle. By the window we see the whipping waves of an angry sea. We know that he was claimed victim by the sea and this will be realized by the two watchers when they awake.

PRINCE EDDY AND THE HOMOSEXUAL UNDERWORLD - THEO ARONSON. Published by John Murray, London 1994 (1st UK edn.). Hardback in dust jacket.

This first full study of Prince Eddy, eldest son of the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII), is set against the vivid backcloth of the astonishingly active homosexual underworld of late Victorian London with which he was closely linked. Here is both an intriguing biography and a look at an aspect of London rarely revealed. Working from original sources (including the files of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Esher papers), the author sets Prince Eddy's life in perspective during the last decades of Queen Victoria's reign. He explores Prince Eddy's upbringing, his university and military careers, his curious personality, his alleged 'secret marriage', his links with the JACK THE RIPPER murders (substantial coverage), his early death and, above all, the central mystery of his life - his sexual orientation. For it was this that linked the young Prince's name to the Cleveland Street Scandal, the notorious homosexual brothel case in 1889. Illustrated, Notes, Bibliography and Index. 246pp. 8vo. Ex-lib. but with just 1 small rubber stamp on copyright page + signs of small label removal on front endpaper, otherwise a very good copy in dust jacket.

'THE MYSTERY OF JACK THE RIPPER' BY LEONARD MATTERS. Probably the most scarce of all Jack the Ripper books . This is the 3rd impression of 1928. Published by huthinson. Red cloth HB. A bit frayed at top and bottom of spine (see photos) Spine sunned, otherwise in Vg condition. The author puts forward his 'Dr Stanley ' theory. Many fascinating contemporary photos of the murder sites (see photos).

This is a UNIQUE offer. 2 whistles , one antique, the other very old. The Metroplitan Patent Police whistle, from 1888, is stamped by J.Hudson & Co., 13 Barr Street, Birmingham with the word " Patent" directly underneath the title, "The Metroploitan" at the top of the whistle. This tells us that the whistle is CERTAINLY from the period between 1888-1909. The story, a true one, is that my Great Grandfather, on the birth of his daughter, my Grandmother born in Hoxton, East London, September 1888, was given this whistle by an active policeman who worked in "H" Division of the Metropolitan Police (this was known as H Division, Whitechapel up until 1965) as a special present for his help during the hunt for Jack the Ripper, for providing food and a place to sleep during the mass manhunt, as police were on duty almost constantly, for many long hours with little leave. The whistle was handed down to my Grandmother who handed it on to me shortly before she died in 1978. With it, she handed me the 2nd item, The Acme City whistle, printed as such and MADE IN ENGLAND that her husband, my Grandfather used when on "Fire watch" during WW2 as a Warden. BOTH of these items are in very good condition. The 1st item has lost a little of the chrome, very litle infact, for an item over 116 years old, and has a fantastic sound to it.VERY CLEAR LETTERING. The Acme whistle, has a slightly loose top ring, but is not in danger of snapping, and a slight, very small dent low down below the flute hole. The sound, however, is clear and true.VERY CLEAR LETTERING

This is a very rare, and highly desirable book. Depicting the actual trial of Florence Maybrick, word for word, of her arrest and subsequent trial & imprisonment.

It is known as one of the classic miscarriages of justice in the last century. It has also been used as a reference from budding lawyers to criminologists, and referred to by ripperologists, as in ' The Maybrick Diaries ' pertaining to Florence's husband, James, as a suspect ' Jack The Ripper '

Sentenced to hang for the murder of her husband by the controversial Mr Justice Stephen, she spent 15 years in jail before finally being released. The books author, Alexander William Macdougall, dedicated it to the children of Florence with these words.

This work is dedicated to James Chandler Maybrick, aged 8 years, and Gladys Evelyn Maybrick, aged 4 years, By the author, with the sincere hope that it will enable them to feel during their lives that the word MOTHER is not " A sound unfit to be heard or uttered" by them, and that when they are old enough to be able to understand this record of the facts and circumstances connected with the charge put upon, and the trial of, Florence Elizabeth Maybrick, aged 27, her children may have, throughout their lives, the comfort of feeling that their mother was not proved to be guilty of the murder of their father, James Maybrick.

The book is in good condition for being over 100 yr old. But iam no expert in this field. If you want to email any questions, i will try and answer them. I am willing to post worldwide but again please email for costs.

FOR AUCTION HERE IS AN OPPURTUNITY TO ACQUIRE A LONG SINCE DELETED FACTUAL DOCUMENTARY ON THE MYSTERY OF JACK THE RIPPER.

"TIMEWATCH:SHADOW OF THE RIPPER" PRODUCED BY JOHN TRIFFITT AND STARRING PROFESSOR CHRISTOPHER FRAYLING WAS SHOWN ON BBC2 WAY BACK ON 07 SEPT 1988 AND TO MY KNOWLEDGE NEVER REPEATED OR RELEASED ON VIDEO OR DVD.

IN MY OPINION THE BEST DOCUMENTARY EVER PRODUCED ON THE RIPPER MYSTERY LASTING ALMOST 1HOUR.

THIS COPY WAS OBTAINED BY ME DIRECT FROM PROF FRAYLING MANY YEARS AGO AND HE HAS ALSO SIGNED THE CASSETTE BOX "WITH VERY BEST WISHES CHRISTOPHER FRAYLING"

ALONG WITH THE VIDEO CASSETTE IS A NOW RARE POSTCARD PRODUCED BY THE BBC TO PROMOTE THE PROGRAMME WHICH MOST COLLECTORS WILL NOT OWN.

For sale here is a unique piece of Jack the Ripper history, an autograph letter signed written by Ernest Crawford of 2 Rosehill Terrace, Larkhall, Bath on 24 September 1907 to the journalist, author and playwright George R. Sims. The letter appears to be based on two of the theories of Jack the Ripper suspect Roslyn D’Onston. This letter has been immortalised by author Melvin Harris in his book about D’Onston, ‘The True Face of Jack the Ripper’, see pp 153-154. Harris remarks, “Finally there exists one further curious item of note, in the form of a letter written on 24 September 1907, by Ernest Crawford of 2 Rosehill Terrace, Larkhall, Bath. It was sent to Robert George Sims [sic], the journalist who took a keen interest in the Ripper case but is best remembered as the author of ‘Christmas Day in the Workhouse.’ It is obviously based on two of D’Onston’s ideas, since the first part mirrors his Pall Mall article, while the second echoes his statements to Marsh, to Cremers and to Scotland Yard. But the sudden introduction of Jesuits into the arena is strange indeed. It looks as if someone with an anti-Jesuit fixation had decided to adapt D’Onston’s ideas for his own ends. And who is the mysterious ‘Mr S’ of the letter? Most of the details seem to fit Stead, especially since he developed a fierce antagonism towards the Jesuits. But how on earth could anyone describe him as ‘…leaping into fame as an inventor’?" Was 'Mr S' D'Onston Stephenson himself? Crawford also refers to Sims’ recent article in about Jack the Ripper in Lloyd’s Weekly News, which prompted the letter. The letter is over six pages long, in very good condition, and is folded where it was posted. The page size is 4.5 inches x 7 inches. (Whole of letter not shown in scans). This item is for the serious Jack the Ripper collector or investor only and such opportunities as this seldom appear on the open market. The letter is in very good condition with creases where originally folded for posting. The letter was purchased in 1993 by author Stewart P Evans from antiquarian dealer Eric Barton of Richmond and was part of a lot from George R Sims’ collection that included the famous Littlechild letter. It is a great item for further research.

TIMEWATCH

How was the story of a simple and brutal crime turned into a legend ? Christopher Frayling stalks the shadows of 1888 whitechapel.

This is an extremely rare documentary, a must for anyone with an interest in the crimes of the whitechapel murderer Jack the ripper. This was only shown once in september 1988 and is transfered for the first time from television to DVD format, the quality is very good and is from my own extensive collection of ripper media. This is not available in the high street. Check out my 100% feedback and other ripper DVD's, I pride myself in providing only the highest possible standards of service and post next day.If you are not happy with your purchase a full refund will be given.

DVD comes boxed with artwork and printed disc.

I can recommend the TIMEWATCH documentary to all. It is a rare old piece, done intelligently without just rehashing the same old mumbo-jumbo, spoilt only by using a few sites with the inferrance they are the murder sites today.

The seller sent me a freebie copy in return for a seat on the tour at some point.

Several copies of Mr. Malcolm's book are on offer. He'll autograph them on request. I figure a book dealing with Sir Robert and autographed to Sir Robert Anderson ought to give them fits.

"THE WHITECHAPEL MURDERS of 1888: A Subjective Look into the Mystery and Manipulation of a Victorian Tragedy/ Confessions of a Ripperologist" by John Malcolm. 8.5" x 5.5" softcover, 124pp with over 40 full-color illustrations. 2nd edition, first paperback printing limited to 100 signed and numbered copies. A brief history with commentary strongly supporting Sir Robert Anderson's claims that the identity of the Whitechapel murderer was "a definitely ascertained fact". Includes present-day photos of what remains of Jack the Ripper's hunting ground.

Hello All

I ordered every item this seller had for sale at the buy it now price after seeing the picture of Mr.George Chapman (alias Severin Kloslowski).I am also getting a couple of dozen spells to ward off evil spirits and spirit possession.

I am fully aware that the seller will not accept returns because I expect to be fully satisfied with every item. After all the seller has a 100 percent satisfaction rating, which means nothing because if you threaten to complain about a seller they can simply retaliate by posting negative feedback on me as a buyer or an e-bay seller. Thats the beauty of e-bay. There is no system in place for checks and balances protecting buyers.

But it doesn't matter because even though I spent a tidy sum I firmly believe in a truly capitalist system as exemplified by e-bay wherein a fool and his money can be soon parted in the ever present quest to "get a steal of a deal".
